Now its time for some Feature Spreads !!!!!!!!!

This is the sketch of the Animal Tales Magazine

VS.

Animal Tales consistently adds a variety of colors as it is also shown here.
The titles or headings are always serif font and the writing or caption is always sans serif.
This feature spread includes more pictures than most even though they are small.
This spread is about fun facts.
Includes pull quotes from the two girls.
Some text wrap.




VS.

Dogster always includes their sections of obsessions and confessions as one of the features.
Use of text wraps.
Includes an interview and the Q&A.
Give credit to the speaker.
Next to the page number the website is always included.
There is also a gutter.

VS.

The feature spread I will be sketching is going to be the second one to the right side.

Lots of text.

This magazine tends to be more formal.

Only includes 3 pictures that are squared or vertically cropped. Shows the seriousness of the magazine. 

More sensitive topic; talks about why dogs need to be loved.

Disclaimer: This is the only feature spread that is coming from a different magazine issue than previously shown. I wasn't able to find it considering that I didn't buy that magazine, I just read it at Barnes & Nobles.


Class Discussion:

Use a focal point.
It is mostly important in the feature spread considering that it tends to be a specific topic.
Focal point=focusing on one topic.
It just looks better to be more organized rather than all over the place.

- Text Wraps
- Focus on a few main images rather than have too many
- Large font titles
- Colour design; usually includes green because of the grass and the dogs playing outside. Bright colors.
