Analyzing House Styles

Analyzing House Styles:
When you are at Walmart on the register line and see the magazine columns, you pick the one that you find most interesting, you don’t really think of the amazingly colorful house style or the sans serif font. Your interest in a certain magazine comes naturally and that is what editors try to do, appeal to the audience and include things that people will naturally be attracted to.
At first, I had no idea what to talk about for my magazine analysis, what to point out and what not to. Analyzing my magazine required a lot of research since I was completely unaware of what different types of layouts, fonts and styles were supposed to represent. Once I got to it though, I was able to make sense out of it, it's one of those things that are there, and we don’t realize it even if it's obvious until we see it with a different purpose. In this case the purpose was, what is the editor trying to representOverall, it was a fun process and I’m certainly looking forward to making my own.
Looking at a variety of genres was very enlightening considering I have seen a lot of those magazines, but I haven't paid much attention to its details and the purpose behind it. The most intriguing magazine analysis were the ones that I wouldn’t usually go for if I was at the magazine column at Walmart. It’s interesting to see what the editor uses to attract people with different interests than mine.
Some magazines included pastel colors and light colors such as the allure magazine, which is something I really loved because pastel colors are my favorite. That same magazine also had the title in all lower-case letters and I'm a fan of that, I think it looks aesthetically pleasing. I also love close ups and pictures that focus on one specific thing, I think it is a great way to show the audience what the whole point of the magazine is. When designing my magazine, I want to avoid adding dark colors, although it contrast well, depending on what you do with it, I want my magazine to be more on the bright side and the audience to perceive it as a happy and  radiant magazine.
The thing I didn’t like about PowerPoint with Voice Recording is that I couldn’t find a way to add transitions within one slide to make it match my voice and what I want to point at. Some presentations included fun transitions, such as shrinking to the specific part of the magazine that they are talking about. Also, pointing at what is being talked about and transitioning into pointing at the next thing being talked about is a great way to keep the audience focused. I would have loved that for my own presentation, but it was very complicated to get to in PowerPoint so that is one thing I did not like. Other than that, I think it's a pretty straightforward program and when in doubt you can always google it.
Altogether, some of my classmates had some cute and creative ideas, I could never come up with some of the things they came up with. Because I'm talking about my classmates, attached is my notes and comments for their presentations. I also embedded a YouTube link to my presentation:
